The Facebook game FarmTown was a virtual social pastime until Lisa Miller started chatting with a woman in Idaho.
"We just started chatting away and she started telling me about her daughter," said Miller of Gainesville.
Miller befriended the woman whose daughter needed a life-saving organ transplant.
"I really needed to help her out," said Miller.
She quickly became close to the daughter, Tiffany (who does not want her last name used for privacy reasons), through Facebook and phone conversations. Like her mom, Tiffany also lives in Idaho.
"She struck me to move forward and help her. I don't know what it was about her," said Miller.
For the past three years, Miller made it her mission to find a kidney donor for Tiffany. She posted on Facebook and talked to everyone she knew.
Miller had no idea the perfect kidney donor was living with her. She was on the phone with Tiffany when her husband, Chris Miller, walked in the room.
"She asked me, 'Do you want to get tested?' I said, 'Sure.' I didn't think anything of it," said Chris Miller, husband.
Chris Miller was a perfect match. He did not hesitate to volunteer giving his kidney.
"She needs a better life. She's on dialysis twice a week and it's the right thing to do," said Chris Miller.
A few months ago, Lisa and Chris Miller traveled to Spokane, WA where Tiffany goes for treatment. They met Tiffany for the first time and that's when they told her the good news.
"I said, 'He's your match. It's your kidney,'" said Lisa Miller.
Tiffany is in her late 20s and has a son. The surgery is scheduled for January, but the Millers wish they could do it tomorrow.
"It's really awesome because I can share it with him and her," said Lisa Miller.
A fundraiser is scheduled for Nov. 10 at Wild Wing Cafe in Gainesville from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. All proceeds go toward defraying the cost for the Millers and helping Tiffany.
